Golden Retrievers are gentle, kind, and eager to please. They are active and affectionate, social and playful. An energetic pup with deep-rooted gundog and retriever instincts, your Golden Retriever will require exercise and mental stimulation to expend their energy and keep them from getting bored. (A bored Golden Retriever tends toward destruction; you can manage problem behaviors with early training and socialization, as well as regular exercise, play time in fenced-in yards, and interactive toys.) They will thrive in homes where they can be active and spend time with their human family. Chasing balls and playing games are favorite pastimes. Your Golden Retriever sheds a lot, particularly during twice-a-year shed seasons. They will require regular brushing or using a shed glove.
